A buyer can retract a bid without the authorisation of the Seller but only with good reason. Eg, you put an extra zero on the end of your bid amount and need to change it or the seller adds to the description with something you're not happy with. I've had to retract 2 bids in the past for this reason.

Another stormer here with two definite shillers with zero ratings, its my old truck too: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=250744845597 Who's betting that we won't see another bid from either of them now that there seems to be a genuine at £2500?

The last question posted on the page is an absolute peach. Anybody who has ever done any hand writing analysis will see straight through it. The lack of apostrophes in the question and then the answer is a huge giveaway. Methinks questioner and respondee are one and the same.

All very interesting stuff....a real education.
I see that the snorkel on fleabay has got to £210.01 with 5 days to go...either someone is desperate, or getting auction fever, or somethings not right....£300 gets you a new one not a second hand one.....but hey that's just my opinion.
      .... Which was nice.

Ebay used to be good for a bargain now and again. Its a den of inequity nowadays. It wouldn't be so bad if things were selling for a fair price but it seems that many sellers aren't happy if they don't get double the true value of what they're selling.

A fair wage for a fair day's work is lost on these people.

Back to the original item: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=130466201577

Originally sold for £2150 in full working order. Now it goes for £2400 as a non-runner. It boggles the mind!

I believe so. Nobody can say anything about the auctions with 100% certainty but they certainly look very suspicious even at a cursory glance. That question and reply that were posted on the auction are very definitely fishy.

Yes - and they have the same (or similar at least) usernames - w33lerd33ler.

Always good to check in here. This guy has 1 feedback, and 4 bid retractions in the last 6 months.

A genuine pillar of the Ebay "Community" then.

There is no doubt that 2.4 on 33s is the one from here and also no doubt his mates or his own dummy accounts are bidding it up.

However if some nugget who clearly has no clue what they are buying, wants to pay 2.5k for a 2.4, then good luck to all concerned. Merry Christmas

Yep, that's where the risk is. But it gets most of the other buyers off the scent. It bviously works best on specialist items, where only a handfull of people would be interested in the first place.

They won't (can't) do anything about it without proof. And there is no proof that there's anything underhand going on. We can surmise all we like, but we (they) can't actually prove a thing.

As has been said before, eBay is a strange place. Cheap things go for crazy money and sometimes expensive stuff gets given away. Maybe this is just one of those anomalies?

Without knowing their motives, I wouldn't report them but Ebay should be picking up on this sort of thing themselves. The sad fact is that Ebay don't give a sh*t.

Does anyone know where you get that grill from? Its chrome and not black like mine. I used to have a chrome one on my 2.4. The truck does look very clean. But as you say, what was the K seal for? Wouldnt it be evident that this had been used by looking at the water?
Another question - why do we get people that do things like this? Rather bodge something and screw someone over than either fix it themselves, or get it fixed, or sell the car listing the fault? Does not make sense to me.
                                Oh Nana, what's my name?
