i had no idea on the rules of greenlaning etc before i bought my truck, it was only after joining a few forums and reading up that i started learning more and more about it
Beware what is posted as a byway on a o/s map maybe restriced ....always check with the county councils Rights of way department if unsure ....
Some of the routes i do on the plain are posted as restricted or other but i have been told by the local CC that they are driveable
if the bobble hats and horsie types - along with ourselves made info more readily available and the rules of whats right and whats wrong brought into the driving test etc etc, then the hooligans may start understandingLast edited by BioHazard; 12 December 2010, 21:32.' i wasreplying more to the other comment about the lad that died as he knew his family - i also knew the other rider following thats now not got the use of both legs
anyway - not to get 'hung up' on those comments
why not look for more positive ways to move forward and make awareness of where to go and whats right n wrong more readily available

However, there is a tiny minority who, whether through ignorance or because they really dont give a sh1t, who have totally destroyed green lanes. One that still sticks in my mind is the grassy hill at the top of the Wayfarer where the 'visitors books' are. The legal lane runs about 20ft from the grassy area, and there's absolutely no need to drive on it, but the last time I drove the Wayfarer, it looked like it had been ploughed! Huge ruts and mud and sh1t everywhere. By the look of it, whoever it was had gone round and round, over and over just digging the ruts deeper til they were about 18" deep and you could see the gouges where diffs had been dragged through.
Wayfarer is a popular walking and cycling route too. I was sickened by what I saw, and felt as guilty as hell when passing others on that trail because they'd see me in my truck and assume it was 'the likes of me' who'd done it. Personally, I'd have no issue at all taking their reg and a photo, and handing it straight to plod - mainly cos its not legal to beat the living sh1t out of them and torch their trucks. The lanes will eventually be closed to all vehicles thanks to tw@ts like that.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

i hear ya there mate
same applies to all areas of life tho..
i know some people who live ina quiet village, they think EVERY motorcyclist speeds and wheelies everywhere
a few thugs have tattoo's so 'posh' folks associate tattoo's with troubles etc etc
what i was saying was that yes, there is some tw@s out there, but also some innocent people (newbies) who will make mistakes - so if teh info waseasier to find and more informative then i'm sure more would respect the law and understand whats right and whats not to do
