APART from the legal aspect NO it is NOT safe to let the gas out.
It is under pressure.
It is a liquid with a boiling point of about -34 Deg C.
Cold burns are not nice .

Like I tried telling you last night by using the example of other dangerous things you shouldn't do but as you missed the point then and still do not seem to understand.

Let me repeat myself.

The gas/liquid mix that WILL come out will either fall in droplets or condense onto your hands arms or whatever other body parts you have exposed as the mixture will have a lower boiling point than you it will suck the heat from you this will leave you with cold burns add to this the possibility that the lubricating oil in the system will have an acidic level aswell oh yeah and the gas is toxic so please do not breathe it in.

Take it down to ur local wefit or whatever and pay the guys to reclaim the gas.If you lived nearer I would do it for free being a so called "specialist".


There you have the options the diy route unlawful and possibly harmfull,or the safe legal route.

yeah why not apart from the legal aspect or the danger aspect .
it will be fine do you really think suggesting on a open forum the deliberate release of a harmfull cfc to atmospere is that good an idea?
next you will be saying it is ok to eat a chicken sarny whilst driving at 55mph in the snow?

what about if he cut the aircon pipe from under the dash while eating a chicken sarnie and driving.The gases will stay in the truck and he'll have his last supper aswell...

and I'LL SAY AGAIN when i did mine there was only a slight hiss and that was it! all over, i witnessed the "specialist" removal of a large fridge i had taken away, the council said i need to get it removed safely and they charged me 25 quid for a dust cart to come round and two blokes throw it in the back, they then used the compactor ram to squash the bstd, so much for safe disposal!! anyway a few guys letting their air-con gas into the atmosphere is a bit like pi$$ing in the ocean climate change wise, have a go at the indians and chinese, their pumping it out by the cubic mile,

when ya do it just undo a union slowly, wear gloves and dont stick your face near it when your doing it, in other words, common sense

I cant tell you to wear gloves and to be carefull and to use a schreader valve key at the compressor suction port (nearest to the bigger pipe) and to crack it open just a bit and go and have a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of wine and then by the time you have had twenty minutes or so the gas will have escaped... that would be very wrong.

think you will find its air con in biuldings swinning baths are the worst for it
but yes its in air con system in cars
i know we tested them for it older the more prone to it
