  • Pulling like mad to the left???

Guys, i've only noticed this over last couple of days.
In a straight line it feels like she's got sq wheels? all bumpy, and when i let go of the wheel, it pulls like mad to the left.

has anyone any ideas what this is? I've looked underneath, and there doesnt seem to be anything out of place?

    cheers

Damaged tyres? Swap the wheels front to rear, see if anything changes.

Pull the caliper off, and you'll probably see a ring of rust around one of the pistons. This is what prevents it from retracting and causes the brake pad to drag on the disc.
Rub it off with some steel wool and either give it a squirt of WD40 or wipe some clean brake fluid around where the rust ring was.

You've done a lot of hooning around in the snow lately. Worth checking the calipers as others have said, but given your bird put it in a ditch the other day, you may have bent a track rod. Check, reset, bend it again. Fact of life

well iwent to see my man for all things 4x4 today in Notts. He confirmed it's the steering idler arm thats shot.
So i'll pick one up from Milners (same price as RT but Milners down the road from me so save £7 on postage!) this wk and hopefully be back to normal.

He also pointed out my front tyres were knackered, and could do with tracking as they've worn on the inside quite bad. Now, I've decided on me new tyres, he's gonna put me on some new General Grabber AT2's - 33" and wrap them round some new 16"x10" deep dish rims. So she should look awesome and stand a lot higher when done. not cheap tho at £700 for the 4 wheels & tryes. But, crap, they look massive!! He said i have plenty of clearance, and is even gonna wind up the torsions a bit for me while i'm there.

Thing is, and this might be a stupid question (no such thing) do i get the tracking done AFTER my new wheels n tryes are on, or can i have that done regardless? i dunno!

Will be a couple of wk to raise funds so pics will defo be up as soon as they're on!!

What garage did you go to in Notts? Do you find the mudflaps are rubbing with that size tyre on?

I've already got into trouble for saying this; just do the tracking now, wheel/tyre choice won't change anything.

Well he said we might need to just trim a little bit but pretty much said they will go straight in without too much headache. Cant wait to see it sat up there with them beauties on!
It is Charles at Bardhills Garden Centre on the A52 going into Notts - think it's his family business, and he just runs his 4x4 garage alongside the Garden Centre - top bloke too.

Albannach - righto cheers mate, will get that sorted this wk too - i will obviously need to have the new steering idler on first though yes?!
