Same guy put 33" BFGs on my 15" steels. Mine had 2" bodylift and 2-3" sus lift, and STILL rubbed on full lock til I took the plastic mudflaps off...

It is Charles at Bardhills Garden Centre on the A52 going into Notts - think it's his family business, and he just runs his 4x4 garage alongside the Garden Centre - top bloke too.

Albannach - righto cheers mate, will get that sorted this wk too - i will obviously need to have the new steering idler on first though yes?!
They won't mate. You will have to lift the truck to run 33s.

you don't need a lift if you only ever drive in a straight line.

LOL, without depressing him even further...

My truck has 4" suspension lift, 1 1/2" body lift, with 33's on 10" wide rims and they still rub a little even with trimmed mudflaps.

S'funny. I have 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift with 33's on 10 inch rims and no rubbing.

                Its all about the 1/2"....

My wheels are -54mm offset, most are more like -30 something, I put it down to that.

Thanks, I know Bardhills garden centre, it's worth knowing just in case. I put my mudflaps on (On Apaches' old truck) as it was kicking snow and mud up onto the rock sliders and I was getting complaints of dirty trousers getting in and out When you put them on it looks like it shouldn't catch them, but sure enough as soon as you get to full lock the tyres rub on them. So taken them off again

If you find a way to trim them so they fit, please let me know

I would leave the tracking until after the torsion bars have been cranked up. The steering rods are not exactly parallel with the wishbones, so toe-in changes as the front is raised. I also agree with it not mattering which wheels are fitted when the tracking is carried out.

Thats where I got mine. -32mm if I recall correctly. They fit easier than -50mm, but I'd bet that they still wouldn't fit without rub on a truck with less than 4" lift.

You have a 3" suspension lift and 2" body.

If you haven't already cured this, or anyone else with a similar problem, check you tyre pressures, if they're uneven on the front it will pull to the side of lowest pressure, a difference of enough to cause this isn't easily seen on big tyres, so use a gauge.

                              oops!!!

i guess i found out what it was!! (didnt need to buy the steering idler, but old one was shot)

I didnt even notice this! How stupid, i had just driven down the M1 at 65mph from J28 to J25 and onto the A52 with this, felt like the car was falling apart.

Such an idiot for not checking, but very thankful for it not blowing on me!

And with new tyres and wheels on! ( more, better pics to follow tomo)

                                How old is the tyre?
