With how cold it is I've been thinking of a water heated fuel filter top but then I thought I'd be losing the priming device. Been out to look at it now, it's a gen 3 surf P reg and the fuel filter top has a couple of wires going to it next to the priming button. A feed wire and an earth. Anybody know what they do. I don't have a book to look in can anybody help?

Albanach. The biodiesel outlet recommended 20% regular diesel in very cold weather. Thought a heated jacket would be a good idea. There are wires to the bottom of the filter. So again what are the two to the cover next to the priming button. Does anyone know for sure what it does, could it be a small heating element?

Hi Folks. In the fuse box there is a relay under the word heater on the fuse box cover, is that the one for the fuel filter head? I tried to do a continuity test with the wires to the top of the filter head and there was no continuity. If this is a heater then that is telling me that it's dead. This being the case where do I get another and is it a difficult and expensive job to do. How is the relay activated, is it permenantly on or temperature activated?

Thanks Wishbone. Mine might be something different. I don't regognise any familiar parts in the line drawings. There is a dome held by two posi screws with a wire going in and an earth coming away back to a plug. All right by the priming button. If the element is connected to those wires it's probably burned out. Thanks again for taking the trouble to post the drawings.
