Im Irish and would not take any offence to someone calling me Paddy but there is a difference between someone going.

            Hey paddy hows tricks ?

            and

            Oi you thick fu#king paddy!

One to me is offensive the other is not, however some people might find both offensive.

Common sense is if you dont know someone well enough then dont say something which could be taken offensively.

However, I have plenty I could discuss about some lovely english women I met over the years, but a gentleman never tells.

I have a few stories of very accommodating lassies from south of the border from my army days, but yes your correct yoshie, a gentleman never tells.

The girl that springs to mind first of all was from Yorkshire, lovely lass, and then the ones more local to us in Dover, then there was that trip to Newquay and also the weekend in London.......happy days.
