Dump valve

The exhaust is a good idea, got a powerflow system on my 3.0 G3 and it sounds fairly cool. Not too loud just makes a nice noise, problem is that since fitting a cone fliter and removing the airbox I can't hear anything other than filter suck.

THink the airbox will probably go back on next time I have a spare few hours.

I like the noise of a dump valve, it sounds cool BUT only when it is associated with a vehicle that is accelerating away from you at serious rate of knots.

You wouldn't want to be tarred with the same brush as them tw*ts who have them bolted to their Bora TDi's.

There's a punto bear me with a fully body kitted pinto...big Barry boy exhausts etc. Because this punto is only a 1.0 litre, it has some sort of sound effect/ electronic/ whack off in your sock dump valve noise. It makes me chuckle.

And they won't work on an automatic vehicle.

Or a diesel without some kind of extra setup.

The best thing would be to do what I do, just around the time when the autobox is about to change gear, lift off the throttle, place face slightly out of the open window, push your tounge up into the roof of your mouth, and breathe out very fast.

Repeat on each gear change.

Just tried this (from my sofa) and it DOES WORK! I even feel I'm developing more power when I do it!
Gonna try it for real in the morning. Can't wait! A free atmos dump valve - gonna get this on ebay and make some money! Where's Judwak when you neeed him!
DB, ever thought about developing a waste gate sound aswell?

Dump valves do have a practical purpose despite their image, and they do work and fitted to automatic vehicles.
They are designed to work when you foot comes off the gas pedal, NOT when changing gear,when driving an auto you come off the gas to press the brake, causeing the dump valve to release pressure between the turbo and the throttle body protecting the turbo , although I would go with a recirc valve over a atmospheric valve.

I have rebuilt a supra auto with recirc valve from the factory, they do work with autos, no need for snyd remarks, didnt realise if was a 4 year old argument, thought it was a query on dump valves.. some of you who made comments about kids need to check yourselves!

Hey nobber, it's totally pointless fitting a valve, either recirculating or dump type to a 20+ year old Toyota diesel automatic with a small, low pressure turbo.

Don't believe me? Go ahead and fit one then post up the before and after dyno results so we can all point and laugh even more.
