I have put some photos on the site:
    http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...531#post661531

I will tidy it up and improve the review when I have a bit more time.
If it can be broken it can be fixed

My kit arrived yesterday. It came in the most impressive packaging that I have seen for a while! The wiring and other parts look well made but the instructions are absolute s**t.
      They start off with something along the lines of;
      1. Take off front hood and remove engine!!!

Luckily the diagrams are better and it looks reasonably straightforward to fit.

McKirdy - thanks for posting the pictures of your setup. I will do something very similar.

Hi Mark, ha ha I remember reading that and thinking WTF ! Lol
If you ignore the instructions it's easy to fit. Have fun

Does anyone think the 5K colour temperature will look blue?

5K is daylight, and only one step up from the 4.3K lamps.

BTW - why would anyone want to have 10K lamps? it would look like a police car,

This is a stab in the dark...but i reckon the police might want them.

Just reviving this thread with an update.
Fitted my HID kit last week. Pretty easy given the good access and space in the engine bay (compared with a modern car).
Switched them on and brilliant light came out. Great, job done!!

Er, not quite. Switched the lights off ...... and they stayed on! Took key out ...and they stayed on! Took fuse out .... and they went off at last.

Contacted the seller. They admtted to having some problems with the wiring loom quality. Good to their word, they supplied a complete new loom today. I will fit it over the weekend and report back.

oh thats not good! mine is working well but will bear that in mind. At least they replaced it quickly and without fuss.

Hopefully the new one works fine.

New loom fitted and lights working properly now. They take a few seconds to 'warm up' when first switched on, but are a big improvement on the halogen bulbs.
The beam pattern seems pretty much spot on without any adjustment. Did a 30 mile drive on a mix of rural and town roads last night and didn't seem to annoy other road users.
                  Cheers

Excelent, I'm really pleased with mine. I'm glad they sorted out a new loom so quickly. Hopefully mine will be trouble free :-)

Forgot to say that I have got over the lack of blue high beam light on the dashboard by wiring a 5W sidelight bulb into the main beam bit of the unused 3 point headlamp bulb connector. (The HID kit runs both lights off one connector)
This seemed simpler than wiring in a relay - especially as I have a box of old bulbs etc left over from disolved Alfasuds.

I did exactly the same, I'll get round to making a relay at some point. :-)

                                Update

Mine are still working ok (ish) apart from the off-side one which has stuck on low beam and will not go onto high beam.
To be fare to the kit this had more to do with the Vauxhall frontera that smashed into the front of my surf than the quality of the kit.

I now take the headlights out for the MOT and then put them back in again, or more accuratly if its raining the bloke at halfrauds dose it while i dring cossee in Subway and watch

They look even better with crystal clear headlights
