    Hi guy's,

If money was no object (which it is) What would be the best DIESEL engine to put in a Surf?

I would prefer diesel as they are simpler than petrol and don't have problems with water (which for me is a bonus/necessity)

I saw on the front of Landrover Owner International (I know, why was I looking ) that some one had put a RangeRover Sport TD V8 in a Defender, looked good. That made me think what would be the ultimate Diesel engined surf? There must be something better than the Toyota 3.0 lump (mine's only a puny 2.4

A few years back in TOR there was an article covering such a thing. There's a normally aspirated Isuzu thats supposed to be completely bombproof and totally reliable.

            no
i was shoked to hear him say it
i asked twice and mark did look twice
why would it say hilux/hiace hybred?
any one else given there vin number to toyota
i have a profile of my car at toyota
            beleave it or not
they only had my car in jap no english at all
it took about 3 years to make a full english profile with toyota on a 1993 ssrg 2.4 td
on and off like when i poped in
toyota wanted to have mi surf for a servise but i refused coz the price is way too high
but with hand on heart i did see it on the toyota commy for my self
how can that be? why would it be?
its a 2.4 same has any other 2.4
the G just means that its got all the fancy trimmings
so its not the G bit they are the same has V and R a 2.4 is a 2.4

i have had some pills tho
they are getting weaker by the day

well ive fitted the 6 cylinder landcruiser engine in a hilux chassis,(yes it was diesel) all be it in the back, had to turn the axles upside down to get it to have 5 forward and 1 reverse gear, so yes it was very involved, but it was also a very well balanced truck.plenty of grunt and sounded great too.

a friend had a 4.2 diesel nissan patrol normally aspirated and it was a ###### good engine, it had more miles on it than a space shuttle and it started first pop every day no matter what the weather, it had no electronics just a good old fashioned straight six mechanical diesel if i had a chance of one of these engines complete i would be very tempted to fit it, but as always its just my oppinion on what i think was a good reliable lump
I'M ALWAYS IN THE SH'T, IT'S ONLY THE DEPTH THAT VARIES!!!!!!!!

Yoshie, if I win the lottery tonight my truck will be with you about 7 pm tomorrow night, otherwise it may happen in a year or two but not anytime soon.
