  • Central locking and windows wont work

Any of you guys able to help. Central locking and electric windows have all packed up. Think it's most probably a fuse, but can I find the fuse! Had both kick panels off and had a shuft under the bonnet but cant find anything that says windows or locks. As its quite warm at the moment , and air con aint worked in years, so it would be soooo nice to open a window.

    Cheers, Spoggle

Checked all the fuses behind the drivers side kick panel and the fuses under the bonnet and they are all O.K. The chart on the back of the kick panel and under the bonnet hasent got anything that refers to the doorlocks or the windows, could Toyota have hiden it elsewhere? If it isnt a fuse which would be the best bet for a broken wire of loose connection to look for? Come to think of it the central locking failed to work once or twice a month or two ago but the righted it self again so I thought no more about it. If its a wire do you guys think that its a DIY job or a trip to the auto sparky? Any advice that bthis idiot can follow would be very welcome

when my rear window stopped working i thought it was knackered....but then it started working again...so im thinking i have a loose or damaged wire somewhere.

but i couldnt imagine a loose/damaged wire afecting the central locking.

i would check the wiring loom from the door to the body as these wires can often break and either work intermitently or pack up altogether

can you fix them easy enough with a bit of insulation tape?

storm, i was gonna ask, do you have any rear chrome bumper quarters (near and offside) from the surfs you have scrapped? in fairly good condition? mine have rusted right up from where they have been damaged.

Same thing happened to me when I was last out off roading. Found out there was a locking switch on the same panel as the windows switches, I had inadvertently leant on it and the windows wouldn't work. Don't know if that's the problem mate but it's worth a look.

Spoggle, its the large pink fuse next to the normal blade fuses you are after.I'd have thought if all has suddenly failed its got to be that fuse,as they are on this same fuse!

                          Regards

Wooohoooo! I have a feeling in my bones that you'll get some just in time for my Cornish holiday!

Oh, and sorry Spoggle, that button was just to disable the rear window, not all of them. Sorry if I got your hopes up mate.
