  • Anyone bought PAS pump seals?

Hello, has anyone bought the power steering pump seal kit from roughtrax, the one for a 3ltr auto 2nd gen?
I need to know if the kit includes the 3 O rings that make a seal between the pump and the engine block. There's a large orange one for the front half of the pump a slightly smaller blue one for the rear half and the very small one for the front again.
If anyone knows it would be much appreciated

The kit includes everything to reseal the p/s pump apart from the fat orange o-ring thats seals the pump to the timing gear housing, you'll probably have to get that from Toyota. but i've never had to change that one, its not sealing oil as such, just splash from the timing gears.

Not sure what you mean about the other 2???

Hello, thanks for replies. Yes it's the orange O ring that secures the front pump to the engine. There is a much smaller orange one as well on the front half of the pump.
On the rear half of the pump there's a similar O ring except this one is blue and is slightly smaller in diameter than the large orange O ring on the fronthalf. It seals the rear half to the engine.
Both the front and rear seals are leaking slightly, moreso when the engine is running. I emailed Roughtrax and they couldn't tell me if the kit contained these O rings.

Also, could anyone point me in the right direction to an exploded diagram of the pump please. I have a 4runner repair manual but it only has pictures of the belt driven PAS pump not a gear driven one.
          Thankyou

Still don't know what you mean! lol, the pump is bolted to the back of the timing cover with 2 bolts and the big orange o-ring, and that its.

I think there's two halves to the pump (unless the other half of it does something else ) both have two bolts securing them on. One sticks out towards the radiator and the other stick out towards the rear of the engine. They both slot together through the engine block.
The rear half has one O ring the front half has two. I think i'll take some pictures to show you when I get back from work, then you can tell me that i'm probably not talking about the PAS pump at all lol

The Roughtrax website has a diagram of what i'm calling the rear half of the pump but it doesn't show on that you get the O ring for sealing that half to the engine block.

One last bit, sorry, I was thinking am I missing something obvious when I put the pump back on, should I be putting anything around the O ring to help with the seal when reassembling. I put a little dexron round it thinking it might help with the seal but should I do that or do something else?
                Thanks for your patience

ah, the front bit is the vacuum pump. You don't need to take that off.

RTV sealant will work round the fittings just as good as new o-rings, there shouldn't be that much oil behind there, if any anyway.

Can't upload any diagrams or parts lists at the moment. Anyway the PAS Pump has five seals and the Vacuum Pump has two and two described as packing. Vacuum Pump has large one at front and one at rear. Front and rear large ones are similar in size. Is this what you are looking at?

That is brilliant thankyou, i'll take a trip to toyota tomorrow and ask them nicely for the O rings.
I have oil leaking from both sides, the pump and the pressure pump so i'll get some new O rings and some RTV sealent. Is the RTV stuff something you would be able to get from a regular motor factors?
Thankyou for the replies, it's been invaluable.
