Well,... and this is speculation mind, mr brown is was disaster politicaly; now the libs would be tarred with that proping up a looser brush if they supported him, the labour party ofcourse realise that and get him to stand down.
So to PR, I first heard about it age 13, John Cleese explained it, and I can understand it still look at the disparity in the numbers.
Torys = 36% 306 seats
Labour = 29% 258 seats
Libs = 23% 57 seats???????????????????? wtf
How is that right? I mean 6% less votes than labour and then 201 less seats? sorry but that's just bollox.
I'm not a Lib supporter, but even so that's just bollox lets have a reform and then another vote, surely that would be more fair?
If a parliment is supposed to represent us, how the hell can the encumbant system do that? Seeing as it works like this?
Thats me done anyhow.
peace

If you want to avoid actually getting ANYTHING done, send it to a committee.

Just my pennies worth. In Ireland they have PR. Don't like it at all. It's like MP's getting in by the 'back door'.
1st past the post seems fair to me. Like the best man/woman for the job. The system I like the most, which wouldn't have a hope of getting in here, is the American system. You know who you are voting for. It seems their system works better than what works here.

Admittedly that's not much different to here (Ashcroft, Trade Unions or the dodgy bloke who stole a few million quid to give to the Lib Dems!) but I'd be reluctant to change a system in case we end up with something worse!

If we can have a referendum on PR, why can't we just have a referendum on who the country wants to lead us?
It need not be complex, we already know who our MPs are (we just elected them) so all we need is a ballot paper with The three main parties on it.
Whoever gets the most votes governs!!

The minor parties (Lib Dem count as one it seems, despite all their bluster) need to either align themselves with a major one or keep their nose out. As has been said before, a vote for a minor parties is nothing but a wasted vote which is likely to result in situations like we have now.
It seems there's a lot to be said for an elected dictatorship! At least we wouldn't have the ar5e licking prostitution we have now.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

I'm sure they're all the same! Most of them would never want to be an MP if the salary was capped at about £40kwww.amcbs.webeden.co.uk www.xjrestorations.co.uk
