Hi, fitted an aux temp electric tim gauge, I put the sender into the top rad hose with an adaptor, has anyone else got one? the reason I ask is I went for a drive today and the temp moved the whole time every time I accelerated or slowed down from 40 up to 80. I realise that when I accelerate the water pump pushes the water round faster just want to make sure as it was dropping right down to 40 when I drifted to a stop.. Is this normal? Thanks for replys...

Doesn't sound right - my Tim gauge sits bang on 85 degrees unless I'm booting down the motorway or going up a hill..
Maybe you have some air in the system ?
Why did you fit it in the top hose when you can fit the proper sender in the thermostat housing ?

I would like to know more about your temp gauges. The standard Toyota guage is either "cold / Normal / head gone"
I'm also thinking of getting one of these:

Thanks Rob, I wanted to have it to compare to the stock one so thought I would put it in the hose as an indication or the stat opening as well. I think my problem might be that I took the live feed off a wire behind the gauges, Im thinking that it might be getting a diffrent voltage when Im accelerating, you've confirmed my suspition and I'll change the live feed and that should fix it. diesel boy, I have only fitted an aux temp gauge, if you look up TIM gauges on "demon tweeks", sorry havnt got link but just google, they will come up, cost about £30 for the gauge and the sender which up can either replace the stock one in the thermostate housing or they also do a hose adapter, the 35mm one fits the too hose in a 2.4

No need on the 2.4 - it has a blanked off hole in the thermostat housing. Just remove the bolt and screw in the aux sender.

I fitted my water temp gauge sender in the top hose as well, it stays at zero till the stat opens and then gradually creeps up, take a feed from an ignition source and dont forget to "earth" the sender, mines been in for over 3 years an always ok,
