  • George, as someone who stopped learning any kind of physics at the age of 13, I can't help with the technical stuff. As a machine that seems to have been designed to find the easy way to do things, let me suggest:

    Make the cable shorter.

Unless you're planning to dig a 200m hole and put the magnet down it or pull something 200m long out of the ground, you don't need 200m.

    • 20m down is the farest iam willing to go sorry my youger brothers willing to go

its not just a case of finding the metal
its more of a case of removeing the crap before the good stuff is even switched on

and yes i will shorten it if needed
only thing iam not willing to drop is the power of the magnet
i need to find the balance between electric and the wire used

once i have that i can start on the other stuff
then it all gets made around april time

iam also awaiting planning permission on my shed
just to be safe i went and asked them to come see what iam doing before i do it

      • can i buy one that i need?
can blackpoolsparks make one for cash around april time?

        i could still make one
but at the moment i want this done sometime this year
and iam still learning too many different things at once

it needs to be at least 250-300kg would be better at 500 or so

so i could if i choose to turn it up full it could pick up 500kg
dont worry about what its going to be mounted on
        i have that inhand

I still don't get why you need more cable than the distance between the magnet and the alternator????

Coils of wire for electromagnetic purposes?

If you wanted to go absolutely safety first, George, you could always do a geophys survey of the field in question if you wanted to...

My instinctive reaction to that would be that the metal in the car would interfere with the geophys but I'd happily be corrected if I'm wrong.

                            i forgot to say
it come with a pug at the end so the head can come on and off
