why electromagnet anyway?

Why not use a rare-earth magnet?
dont know how much they cost, but its gotta be another option.
BTW - theres nothing rare about a rare earth magnet, its just the name.

George, what you're planning aint gonna work. You need to start with kV rather than V, so you need smaller cross section cable to get the same power at the magnet. I doubt this is feasible.

But how do you get it?
All joking aside, you'll need that size geni to generate that kind of power.

And there's the other considerations, such as heat dissipation.
I'd do some trials, use some 6mm at first , but only for a very short period and see how powerful the magnet is.

iam wrong in the sizes iam sure
i worked it out once but was also reading about the mid jerassic
so i must have fluffed it up somewere alone the lines

i dont think that adding 1/3 to the amps is right
and my note boke is in the house iam in the shed and its freezeing out

You need voltage rather than current if you are to keep that 200m of cable manageable.
