Can anyone please tell me where insurance companies get the idea from that female drivers are less of a risk on the road?
No less than 5 incidents during a 12 mile journey today have confirmed my original theory that, by and large, the words "Woman" and "Driver" should never be used in the same sentence.
(1) Traffic lights on red. I'm in lefthand lane waiting to turn left. Woman driver in righthand lane indicating right. Lights change to green and woman turns left across my path almost taking the bumper off my van.
(2) Several hundred yards later, same woman driver as in (1) is ahead of me when she decides to come to a dead stop half way round a roundabout and attempt a 3 point turn. I, and several other drivers, pointed out the error of her ways but she carried on and drove off against the traffic as if she'd done nothing wrong.
(3) A couple of miles further on and as usual the dreaded bus driver pulls out ahead of me from a stop without indicating and completely oblivious to everything else thats going on.......had me stamping on the brake pedal so hard that I'm convinced I bent it a bit. For three miles this bus travelled at 11mph ahead of me and mounted the curb at every bend and corner along the way. Eventually it came to a stop and I could pass.......woman driver!
(4) Within half a mile of the end of my journey I approached a set of lights on red. At the lights ahead of me was a car with reversing lights on so I left at least a 15 foot gap....just incase. As the lights changed to green the car set off in reverse and didn't stop until it met the front of my van. The woman driver got out of the car and apologised. Fortunately neither of us had been hurt, there was no damage to my van and only a very small dent on her car so I told her to forget it.
(5) After the above incident, the lady got back into her car and drove off.....through the lights ahead of her, which by this time were back to red. She then realised what she'd done and stopped infront of the red light at the opposite side of the junction.
Thoughts on a postcard please..........
