  • litterally sick parrot

Had to take our Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot to the vets this morning and it looks like he has got Psittacosis which is a killer.
We haven't a clue how the hell he caught it but he is now quarentined in the front room on his own after having a big injection and hes now in his cage feeling and lloking sorry for himself and hes nice and warm as we've put a big lamp on shinning in his cage.
The next several days are going to be the worst as it will be whether or not he starts to recover. The vets don't hold much hope and neither do we but we do hope he recovers tho

He seems to of perked up a little this morning but he's still not eating anything yet.I will see what he's like later after i've spent a few hourss at the unit and i think i'll have to syringe some sugary water or honey in his beak just so we know he's had something

Glad he's perked up a bit.
Reminds me of last year I found a sick buzzard in my paddock. I looked up a place called safewings. Turns out some guy had devoted his house and his life to looking after sick birds. He had more birds in his house than I had ever seen. He had 13 Buzzards, the one I took to him he put in an intensive care unit in his kitchen. He said it had a disease called fromes or frounces or something, they get it from eating infected wood pidgeons. He force fead it diced rat for a few days but eventually it lost the fight and died.
