i think i've read somewhere that you can use your air-con compressor as an air compressor if you fit an air tank of some kind, but car'nt remember where i read it or if i'm going mad lol,
as any body else heard or done this mod i'm going to remove my air con this week and if this is possible i'll keep the compressor but if not i'll bin the lot.
    cheers

yeah, google it, the yanks and ozzies have done lots.

You sometimes has issues with needing oil to stop it seizing up. most people used some kind of volvo compressor that seems to run happily without oil

The surf pump has metal vanes, so wouldn't like to be dry for long, you'd need to add oil then remove it before the air tank.

Just a word of caution to bear in mind. As we all know, air con systems have refrigerant gases in. Most Surfs use R134A. You are supposed to take your vehicle to an authorised air con specialist to recover the refrigerant gases, and the Ester oil before removing your air con unit.
The penalties for not doing so are very heavy indeed! Up to £50,000 fine and/or 6 months prison term!

Don't say you haven't been told about this!

        Regards.

              Not even any oil?
(Refrigerant is absorbed into the oil.)
Don't mean to harp on, just concerned. I'll shut up now!
