If you are happy, then Im happy. It looks all right. There will be a queue shortly telling you how they bought a better/newer one with lifts winches and intercoolers for threepence, but ignore them, I reckon you did OK

I wouldnt have bought it personally, as sellers who decide that slagging off the 2.4 is good advertising practice for their 3.0l really annoy me, but thats just me being petty.

Welcome to the joys of Surf ownership.

You should have asked that before you bought it, not after.

Why should he ignore comments that he invited?

My comment would be that it is overpriced, there's no way anyone should pay over £1,500 for a 2nd gen Surf. Can't tell the condition from the pictures, the wet look cleaning products may be hiding a multitude of problems.

I apologise if that doesn't fit with your ideal.

S'only money, as long as you're happy with it. It is a bit overpriced, but if you plan to keep it for a while then that doesn't matter.
                      Good luck with it.

Actually I plan on letting it serve out its' MOT and then chop it up and convert it into something fun. like a tractor or a monster truck and mess about in it in my forests and fields. I only really need it to be road legal for about 6 months.

No need to apologise, it IS the reason I have asked and I am grateful for it. I also had the £1500 budget in mind as a max, but not having found anything else that ticked as many boxes as this one did, I thought it was better to pay up and get what I want and move on, rather than then spend unknown amount of time looking for something similar even further away.

I quite liked the idea that it has been looked after mechanically too.

If I owned forests and fields in, or around london I reckon I'd be in a position to just by a brand new landcruiser and then bin it
