  • bottom hose

found that the bottom hose on the truck is seeping coolant when cold, put a new clip on but cant seem to tighten up enough to stop it. So, i think that the hose has had it. New one should be here today from Roughtrax. Any comments welcome

Not sure about the 3.0 but on the 2.4 you have to drop the air con rad to get at the hose not a bad job to do though, its just the coolant refill/flush etc bit of a pain.....

Make sure when you change the hose you clean the bottom pipe of the radiator off as well.

Also make sure the jubilee clips are the wider type, and that you've get plenty of anti-freeze ready to re-fil the system.

The wife has taken it it UNI as her car was in for a break problem, so she will be in about 5 ish which gives me a small amount of time before it gets dark to change it over.

When you refill the system with coolant, remember to pour it in slowly. You'll minimise the probability of airlocks that way. Also fill the expansion bottle about half full with coolant. Any surplus will just get shoved out if needed, but you will have surplus in there to compensate for any air which may exit through the expansion system.

or rather than matts way,do it the proper way refill cooling sytem, not overfilling the expansion tank, run engine with rad cap off, keep goin until normal running temp, top up as required, make sure u get heat from heater then replace cap

Water expands as it warms. It will just push coolant out of the cap area using that method, unless there are vast airlocks in there which happen to escape via the open outlet.
