Edit: In fact wouldn't the bj spacers give more droop as they increase the distance to the bumpstop meaning worse cv angles ?
I thought they moved your wheels from \-----/ to I------I after lifting.

No it's pretty much the opposite - when fitted they push the tops of the wheels out.

yep your quite right i should of added that they would be used in conjunction with a diff drop kit, which we also do.

I know i just woke up but i had trouble following steins answer!!

this is a BJ spacer and it goes here, this one (pair) is 2" thick and gives ya 2" of lift, and a more acute angle on the drive shafts? hence also fit front diff spacers and ARB spacers or free wheeling hubs

The biggest benefit is that because you dont need as much tension on your torsion bars, you get to keep your front end flex and ride quality, rather than ending up with a truck thats as stiff up front as John Holmes on a Viagra binge.

They are worth doing for that alone!

Incidentally, could you not space the bottom BJ by the same aount and end up with original camber too?

Very good question! one i was afraid to ask
another i was afraid to ask is -whats involved in altering the camber (back to somewhere near it's original pos) as opposed to shelling out over a ton to some surly motha at the local tyre shop?

if you spaced the bottom Bj by the same ammount the camber would remain the same but the drive shaft is atached to the wheel hub is it not?? surley this would foul the shaft??

I think you're right. I think a better solution would be to make a 2" version of the lower wishbone drop brackets that comes with the 4" lift kits. (some will probably argue that this would negate the clearance gained by tweaking the t-bars and raising the diff though.)

Right then people. I have bought my tyres off a friend. They are brand new BF mud terrains in a 33" 12-50. What is the best way to lift the truck so it is strong and reliable. i was thinking about these ball joint spacers, some drop brackets, plus 4" springs on the back and a nice 3" bodylift.

However i am concerned that the 2" balljoint spacer will be under too much pressure and possibly rip off under extreme articulations or off roading bounce. would the one inch ball joint spacer be better.

And does anyone have the other items that i need becase im definately interested to get these tyres on and show the boys offroading why i chose the toyota!!!!
Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

Maybe I am wrong, but relying on 8 or 10 bolts(i don't know the exact no.) spaced out 3" doesn't sound that strong to me.

you could be right i suppose. maybe the two inch bodylift would be better. i dont know if i can drop the diff much though. if i have the 2" ball joint spacer would the diff have to drop 2" too. i think the front prop will catch the exhaust if i drop the diff too much

I won't hijack Steins thread to talk about body lifts, but from what I have read over the years, body lifts are not recommended for serious off roading.
In saying that, My wrangler has a 1" body lift, (total lift 9") and I haven't had a problem. But I am not Hardcore.
