My father had a green 1936 Austin 7 Ruby, Reg number VJ 8135.
I have since seen the registration number on a new style Jaguar, in Norwich of all places.
He sold it in about 1960 for £25.00 to a houskeeper of a well to do businessman and took her car in part exchange which became my first car.
It was a 1929 Austin 7 Box saloon, Red in colour but I can't remember the reg number now.
I kept it for several years, I never drove it on the road!! (I was only about 11 years old at the time).
I sold it to a bloke from Thetford on the understanding he would restore it, which he promised me faithfully he would, for £5.00.
I never ever saw it again, in fact I doubt he even took it home but took it straight to his buyer and sold it for a handsome profit, I never to this day forgave him !!!! I later found out he was a person not to be taken at his word and was well known for wheeling and dealing. Oh the innocence of youth, like a fool I believed him
          I wish I had kept it !!!!!

I have vague memories of a sky-blue Beetle and a puke-yellow K70 (which lasts a coupleof weeks before my Dad took it back for a refund ), then The Van appeared - VW Caravette MVB288D. We went all over the country in that (albeit slowly).
I can still remember the exhaust blowing out when we were camping in the Yorkshire Dales, driving 20 miles each way to the nearest dealer in Skipton, sounding like a tank, then finding out we had been given the wrong exhaust, after taking the old one off. Put old one back on, drive to Skipton and back again, sounding like a low-flying Heinkel.
Happy days - when we first had it, I used to sleep on the shelf above the engine compartment at night...
