Hey Biosurf a few weeks ago albannach advised against getting a hi-lift jack as its primary purpose was to lift not pull.
I totally agree with you but its really only as a last measure if i get stuck on my own which is highly unlikely as i never go offroading alone so i couldnt really justify getting anything expensive.
Albannach if RTFM stands for what i think it does, there is no FM.

I personally wouldn't ever use a jack to pull. Even though a jack (any jack) can be configured to pull using its lift mechanism, I'd not do it and wouldn't recommend it.

Ye it is a bit harsh but like you say if its only once a blue moon when you use it then its not too bad.

I take mine with me every week when i go shooting on farm land, had it 2 years & used it once, saves anoying the farmer at midnight to come pull you out with the tractor
