That wasn't Biodiesel. That was just the usual numpty trying to sell processed WVO and calling it Bio instead of using its proper term.

Wonder what happened to Muj? Last I recall, he was trying to flog that 'business'.
Thats as maybe Matt, but personally it's enough to put me off trying!
I'll stick to my WVO or SVO.

There was another garage buy the "Metal Shredder" that was selling "RED DIESEL" mixed in with "Bio", loads of cabbies where found with red diesel in there tanks.

      Regards Hilux Bob

        Sorry Guys.......my typing error.

I am paying 85.9p per litre.

I save a tenner every time I fill with Bio.

...although as it isn't on my route, I tend to fill up every other tank full with Bio

Morisons in Plymouth sell it,TBH my truck seems to run better on it (and veg neat for that matter) and I would have thought as it is not a back yard producer that all is OK, however it galls me that they are selling it for the same price as dino, can't be right can it??
Did I mention I have a BLUE one

Ah, good old Costco! Their veggie made my trip tp Applecross a damn sight cheaper. Tried to be clever though and put the last 20 litres in neat, the truck didn't like it at all. Although it ran okay the tickover was rough and noisy, my neighbour commented that it sounded like a old Cummins engine!

Hello Tony. Yes I agree with you on this. I feel the truck has more oomph and even more so when there is a greater ratio to Diesel (e.g. 30 litres veg 5 litres Diesel.) I put this down to being because the engine is 3.0 litres, the injectors and turbo are bigger than the 2.4 litre and so can cope better or benefit from the denser fuel. (The turbo being bigger and bigger injectors are an assumption. I never used the forum search. I'm not sorry )

The 2.4 on the other had seems to react the opposite way to veg oil. A little more sluggish and if it's cold outside then expect to have a truck that acts like an old ford on a winter morning with a dodgy choke! Once the engine has started to warm up its almost back to normal but you do notice a slight decrease in power over the usual Diesel under normal driving.

MMMnnn.. Cummins 2 stroke turbo Diesel My 2.4 did this once the glow plugs stopped heating up. If I let her tick over for longer than that it seemed that the heat energy created by the combustion was less than what was used to ignite the veg oil!

I used to buy pump bio a few years back from a garage in Liverpool. It was about 75p/L. However, first time I used it, my fuel filter clogged about 100 miles later. Not unusual you say? OK, changed filter, no probs for a while. Filled up again in Liverpool, fuel filter clogged again a few hundred miles later.

Since then I've been filtering my own waste veg I get from a local pub and using it 50/50 with dino, or using SVO when its cheap (Costco ~ 65p/L at the mo) again mixed 50/50 and have never had a filter clog since.

I'm with Andy Sceptical about Bio....
Ya safer with SVO from Costco's /Tesco's etc.
I'm on my 2nd week of 100% (triple distilled) filtered WVO (Nut oil) from my local Chippy) @11p a litre .... wooo hoooo

I wasn't meaning to say that Biodiesel was specifically a good idea, merely that they seemed to have made a mess of that info. You're best sticking with whichever you're comfortable using.

I dont think you CAN get more power from veg (unless your truck is working badly with dino for some reason) because the specific impulse (or is that for warp engines?) is lower - ie there's less calories per unit volume.

Mine is smoother and less noisy on a mix of dino / veg though.

May be then, the effects I'm feeling is something to do with how it is spraying the veg... I am unsure of the part that the pre combustion chamber plays in this.

Spay pattern should be worse, unless the previous owner fitted veg specific injectors to your truck?

Could just be your injectors are manky so the diesel spray pattern is worse than it should be.

Injectors are a few years old, and they arn't veg specific.. Strange anomoly..

OK put my first £30 of Bio-Diesel in to the tank today which brimmed it, having sat in the Football traffic got out at home and smelt the exhaust and it seems to be a lot cleaner at the tailpipe... (Sado Noob here i know).

Oh its exactly the same price as Dino-Diesel so its a win win situation. Smells better and does seem to burn cleaner.

It is advisable to put a tank of Dino in every so often or should i just now run it on Bio (Where Possible)??
                              Always room for more power!!!!

MadmanC - It's only win-win when it's cheaper than Derv. You seem to get a slight drop in economy on Veg. I took a look at ASDA's today and it's back at 96p per litre.. If I were to buy from the ASDAs at Docklands, I could get it for 80p per litre

How many litres was £30? was it two 15 litre boxes?

For 30 litres worth I would have put £10 of Derv on top. Couple years ago, I used to buy the 20 litre boxes. So I would get two of those at something silly like £11 each. Two of those would make 40 litres, so plus the bit in the tank from last week, 2 litres of white spirit and top it off with Derv (about £8) would be all gravy. The rule of 1 litre of White spirit to every 12 - 15 litres (mine didn't need so much white) stops the fuel pump seals letting fuel out. This meant I could run it week after week.
My current Surf has never leaked though so I've never put white spirit through it.
