Haven't got much interest in talking on the radio. Just interested in the challenge of picking up very distant signals / decoding stuff. I'm gonna build a couple of data slicers for POCSAG and FLEX when I fit a discriminator tap to my AR1000.

    Hows that for nerdy?

As for listening to people doing their jobs, well, its a bit more interesting than listening to people doing their jobs of R1, R2 etc. Its more than that anyway. Its more the challenge of finding something distant and difficult to receive, and another aspect for me with my engineer head on is the design / build / test and improvement of antennas for the purpose.

I use PMR446 for various outdoor activities, isn't this also used for greenlaning? It's the new CB radio don't u know!

Scanner just some fun / backup for PMR446 receive / listen to CB and whatever else is going on, alternative to the radio. Also good to know who is doing what about you for some of the things I do.

Also just fun to f$ucjk about with radios, why not?

I have pmr's for snowboarding and sometimes take them to the clog for peeps who don't have CB's.

I do have a CB but I only ever use it at the Clog.

I'm not known as a hoarding b@stard for nowt you know. I have a tendency to be a magnet for things when workshops are being closed down and such. There ain't that many service dept's still up and running these days, hence my sometimes unusual collection.

Believe it or not, with the right antenna, it's possible to pick up the space shuttle and the ISS comms with the ground.

Just on the PMR note, does anyone happen to have and know what voltage the transformer is for the recharging base unit for the Cobra's?
