So - 2.4s are for hobbyists, 3.0s are for people who like to get all dirty, V6s are for those who don't like tipping over, and 3rd gens are for girls.....and as for MX-5s OMG!!!! I can't believe you admitted to buying one, let alone driving it.....

And what is wrong with a Mk1 MX5? They are the world’s most popular sports car with all the fun of the old MGB’ & Elans with none of the reliability problems that plagued British sports cars.
The funny thing is that you get exactly the same gen / Mk debates over on the MX5 forums (and MR2, EVO, Scooby, Golf GTI, etc.) as you do on here...... normally the MK1 is considered the purest version and I have to agree.

I’d rather have a MX-5 than a girly Corsa or Clio that so many young guys seem to drive. A lot of men think the MX-5 is a woman’s car..... until they get to drive one.

I mean of course in the numbers produced
“The multi-award winning Mazda MX-5 is officially the world's most popular open-top sports car” (source http://www.mazda.co.uk/showroom/mx-5/)

As regards being a woman’s car, hairdressers car etc. I really don’t care, as I am perfectly confident of my own heterosexual masculinity. Look around on any nice day and you will see that there is a fairly even split between the sex of the people driving MX5’s. They also make good track day cars which is more of a male dominated sport. The MX5 is one of those cars like the Mini or the original VW Beetle that can be enjoyed by either sex.
