Unless one has a 2.4 of course?
I think even most of them have talked themselves into believing it now.
Petrol just smells SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer than that oily stuff
2.4's are underpowered ain't that a fact, especially when towing a horse box + ponies + kids etc. In 5 years I did about 200,000kms in mine so I know.
The 3.0 litre Surfs are better.
4477cc Landcruisers are the way to go.

I’ll try and think a little more before writing my posts and I won’t pick on 2.4’s anymore. It is true that I have never owned a 2.4 but I have driven them around Africa a fair bit (mainly in pick up guise).
When I bought my Surf it was an impulse buy. I’d seen Surfs / 4-Runners around and knew that I liked the look of them, but I didn’t know much about them really. I spotted my Surf on Auto trader, called at the garage on the way home and 30 mins later it was mine.
This time next year I want to be driving an 80 series Land Cruiser. But this time around I am doing my research and have decided that I want an auto with cruise control, leather seats and AC. I’m open minded regarding petrol or diesel, 12/24 valve, UK or import, 5/7 seats and colour (white, grey, black, dark blue, green but not maroon).
I already have a good Idea of the extras I want to fit: ARB front winch bumper/bull-bar, winch, ARB rear bumpers to hold a pair of spare wheels, roof rack, roof tent, snorkel, up-rated suspension and various expedition equipment..... and when I finally get another person established to cover me at work (probably late 2010-11 the way things are going) I’ll set off on a few overland trips.Live Life To The Full

Ahh, yes 4477cc that is the petrol version isn’t it. There seems to be quite a few around at the moment.
I will probably be asking you (Boyo) questions about your petrol LC sooner or later if it is OK with you.
I might find something that catches my eye in the coming months, otherwise the “plan” is to see how my Surf fairs with the next MOT in October (it past Ok last time). The other reason for waiting till autumn is that it will coincide with my final loan payments and I reckon from then on I should be able to save at least 1K per month which will help either to increase my LC buying budget or pay towards the accessories/ mods I have in mind.
Overall, I like to do as Bob has done and keep a nice LC80 for a good few years.
Oh and I do like leather have it in the MX5 and in a number of past vehicles that I’ve owned.
Ps. I might even keep the Surf as well just for a shooting / green laning truck.Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL
