Wasn't there a "Charlie Brown's" motor centre? Seem to remember them being OK, but last time I went in one (St Helens - The North somewhere) it had gone downhill. It was like Halfords, but without the nicer stuff.

                    • Charlie browns was a franchised garage , with (so called) mechanics i think

We used to have a local one, and I bought filters / oil etc from there cos he held stuff for Surfs, but he sold his shop and its now flats. Seems flogging your place to a developer is more profitable. Plus Halfords was half a mile away, and was more profitable with the Barrys.
