I want to re-awake this thread and ask the good and knowledgeable folks if these 4" speakers are suitable to replace the standard front speakers in a 2nd gen '93 Surf :
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=37982

and these 6x9 for the rear :
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=37987

    seem pretty cheap!

Not after anything fantastic - the front ones are knacked and distort at even normal volumes.

No sound from the back - maybe not wired up properly??

yep they will fit, little bit of modifying to plastic in rears to make them fit,no sound at the back could be the funny old toyota amp playing up if you still have it wired in,if thats the case just run fresh wires from your hopefully aftermarket stereo to the back

It's an aftermarket one - came in the surf when I bought it.

It's a Goodmans GCE7355 - ample for my needs - Radio and CD

i would get a set of 5 1/4" and just trim where existing speakers are to fit em, you'll just need a sharp stanley knife..... the edge 13cm is what i have up front, and what sound the give..... amazing.... for the money

Actually bought a pair of these myself today - no speakers in the front of my Surf (yet!) - original price £40 I think.

Also - have a check in Halfrauds bargain bin. Ex-display, etc.

The maplin ones are ok for the cost, I've used them before and they are certainly an improvement on single cone speakers.

As for the rear, well I never sit there so :P j/k

                        peace
