    Amazing innit?
Suddenly they're all too busy to care. Maybe they've found another thread/site more interesting. Even the originator of this thread has been and gone.

i am here vince.just collecting my thoughts, it doesnt sound as bad as it did in mitsys vid, just cant get my head around,(no pun intended ) the fact that it sounds like its running on all four cylinders,in my experiance when something drops a valve or bends one the cylinder chuffs (ie doesnt fire) and runs erratic.and you get massive blow by.so just re thinking thats all.wether it would be best to get just a head or an entire engine.just in case some thing mashed a piston.or like mr lucan said a small ends gone.

Hello all, I knew you weren't far away.
Phantom18 offered a complete, running engine (he's in Northampton) which we'll have at our disposal in case there's more damage than just the head/valves. So maybe get that over to Mitsy's first either by Surf train, very strong pigeon or courier. Then a date needs to be set for the tech week-end.

A gazebo or some description will be needed as the truck is in the garden but plenty of space around it to work/stand/point and laugh etc.
I can bring my new hoist in case the engine needs to come out also a generator for any power tools or lighting.

I am still offering a taxi service for anyone who's quite close and doesn't want to cough for fuel. I will definitely be on pointing and laughing duty too.

Cant hear the noise here in work, but does the head have pre-combustion chambers pressed into it?
If so, and I'm working on Mr Steins impression that its on 4 cylinders, its possible ones come loose in the head and is being hit by the piston, causing a knock.
Engine will still run on all four cyls but will be knocking.
What have I told you about thinking Erroll

Have you cracked off an injector pipe on each cylinder in turn with the engine running . If the noise disappears from the cylinder the injector is cracked off then it usually is a big end or little end or piston problem. Got a 2.4 here with same noise .

Just a thought, it might be something as simple as a knackered injector, if the nozzle is not spraying correctly it will make the engine knock like hell, it could be a broken spring inside an injector.
Just a thought for what it's worth.
                            Regards, John.
