I was wondering whether it could be as simple as the crankshaft pulley doing its de-bonding trick. When mine did that, everything wobbling around made a terrible racket and the French mechanic told me that the whole engine was ruined.
Incidentally, why did you want a new radiator? Was the old one leaking or were you having problems with the temperature?Last edited by Sancho; 9 December 2008, 12:27.

Sounded a bit better after that but still tapping a bit. So when it went again the other day i thought it was the exhaust again but this time it had lost all power.
Is the engine check light coming on?

i know one thing it aint dropped a valve,it idles to well for that,it would chuff if it had dropped one.does it smoke a lot.just remove the rubber hose from the turbo inlet and wiggle the turbo blades up and down and back and forth.also when was the last time the cam belt was changed,it might of jumped a few teeth.its deffo not an internal engine noise, could be something come loose under the cam cover.Last edited by surfenstein; 9 December 2008, 14:14.www.overfab.uk
