Well copper or not, its working well at present, just need to fit the valves and hello free motoring.

        good job

The heat exchanger is from a valiant boiler this gives better oil heat than the small purpose made type by Biotuning. I bought two complete with pipe fittings for £60. The 19mm heater pipe costs £4 a mtr, the 10mm fuel hose £2.50 a mtr, jubilee clips £2-3 a bag of 10 at screwfix.
I do intend twin tanking, using Tecalemit valves costs £60-70 a pair I am waiting for the 3 way valves to arrive. I will use a marine tank in the boot for the time being to hold the derv and fit a second tank under the floor of the boot like Popeye on this forum has done using a landrover tank.
I am playing with the idea of getting upgraded injectors around £150, uprated Glow plugs £30-40 and using just the single tank as on the Elsebett systems they do a kit and recommend a singletank, look here http://www.biomotors.co.uk/CarsVansS.html#Toyota
waiting for reply from Diesel Bob to find out if this will work during the colder months using his stuff at a fraction the price of theres.

forgive me for the late reply, i read this late one night and never got round to replying, anyway all this is very interesting i hope you will show me pics of your install when its all finished as i will be needing to do something with my surf to run higher % of veg during winter, i have not looked into it but i will want to go the diy route. DO you really think you need uprated glow plugs and injectors ? I thought a small tank in the boot for diesel would have been enough just to start and run for a few miles then turn to veg out the main tank. I cant fit a tank under the boot as my spare is underslung and i like it that way .

The longer glow plugs and injector tips were to be used as a single tank conversion, to do away with having a twin tank set up in the boot.
Elsbett do a kit costs 6-700 for the parts and fit yourself. I have no intention of spending that sort of money, I got this reply from a veg conversion specialist.

              Quote.
]I'm guessing you have the 1KZ-TE engine?

For your vehicle I would fit new original injector nozzles. The best
way for you to progress with this would be to take your injectors to
your nearest decent diesel injection specialist for new nozzles (I'm
fairly sure this is what you would get from Elsbett for your engine).
The nozzles for your vehicle are a bit more expensive than others -
expect to pay somewhere around £30 for each injector. Ask them to set
break pressures at the high end of specified range.

I can supply glow plugs. I'm looking at a ceramic (quick heat)
replacement that I will have to modify to provide good starting
performance with vegetable oil. Price would be about £70 for a set of four.

I'd recommend that you also modify the control of your glow plugs to
give extended pre and post glow. As your engine is (I think)
electronically controlled you should also get other benefits from doing
this. The ECU should modify timing and fuelling levels to improve
              combustion.

I have not done anything other than fit the exchanger at present, truck runs fine at 3 degrees and starts easy in the mornings just by keeping the ijnition on for 30-40 seconds prior to starting up + we have the standard heated oil filter not sure if it does a great deal though.

Maybe some of the more tech minded folk on here can put a little light on this and wether its possible it will work? If the injectors are working no need to replace and how to modify the burn times of the plugs maybe not having to change them, Will the timing and fuelling adjust itself?

are you stillm only running on your heat exchangerr so far im running wvo as a 2-1 mix ie 40% diesel to 60% wvo but this cold weather is making it so much slower to filter

Still running with just a heat exchanger, Did not fit the valves and second tank as it runs fine with 90% WVO 10% petrol starts ok even at -2 but gets a little lumpy until warmed up.
Installed a 3kw heater to speed up the settling and filtering, add petrol after cooling but prior to filtering and this seems to speed the process.

                  Good luck

                    hi mate

glad to hear things are going so well with the heat exchanger, at the moment i dont have enough wvo to go for a 90% veg oil mix so its not worth me thinking about it at this point, i need to get my finger out and find other oil collections locally.

i have been having trouble with my oil in drum 2 jelling so i have added 10% petrol and is is much more liquified now but it has a little slushy consistency still, ill check it again tomorrow night and see how it is before adding to my surf.

ill keep tabs on how your doing,

Very pertinent thread going on over here at the mo http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/....php?tid=10262
Seems that if you are pumping the friction may heat the oil enough to liquefy some of the fats that should be getting caught in the filters.

are you filtering through a sheet on the second tank? Might be worth giving it a go

hi my second drum has 50 and 5 micron bag filters, ill maybe go for a pumped system some day, i mixed 10% pertol with the oil in my second drum and it has made it pourable even though its still thick but it stops it beeing too thick to budge.

I only use the clear liquid oil from the top of my drums this is fluid even at -2 The 20-30% dregs that are left in each drum get saved and put in another to be used for making BIO as soon as I finish building a processor. The oil I collect is very clean with no solids.

hi mate, i now have enough veg oil to go for a high % , so how has your 90% veg oil and 10% petrol doing, is it still as reliable and have you done anything else ?

                            cheers#

Yes still running Veg 90%, petrol 10%, and adding millers sport 4, seems to be running without problems so far.

Good luck with yours just make sure its free of WATER, and well filtered, then enjoy virtually cost free fuel.

yeah great stuff, where did you but the heat exchanger from and the other bits ? was this heat exchanger one of the better ones as i have read some are better than other but i cant remember which

i thought you were running 90% veg and 10% petrol (not diesel)

im mixing 10% petrol before filtering so it does not freeze and filters quicker in these cold days. even if i have to add a further 10% diesel to my fuel tank its gonna be cheap cheap cheap
