Ok, stupid question.... But is it true that the speed you are doing as shown on the speedo is actually 10mph slower than what it actually is??? (I was told this recently and don't know if the guy is taking the p!ss or if he is an idiot)

I would say 10% is nearer the mark than 10 mph.
However it is Dependant on tyre size.

Total horse shit (how appropriate
). They are generally thought to be around +/-10% accurate but most are pretty much spot on. Check it against GPS if you're curious.

OK, so basically I tell this guy he is an idiot! LOL, I really don't like him. He doesn't drive a Surf at all and says that this is the case in ANY car!! He really thinks he knows it all!!! He was the idiot that convinced me there was something seriously wrong with my Surf a couple of months ago and when I took it to the garage I was told that it had one of the quietest engines they have ever heard and that there were no problems at all!

Compared with my GPS both the Surf and the Focus are spot on at 30mph but are 5mph optimistic at an indicated 60mph
