        cross-post

        6' mower,
not sure the HP of tractor (or what it is after four decades)

do you think it could handle that size, it would be quicker to use of course

        but where from though.
        E-bay don't have a lot of choice

5ft topper is about the biggest you want for that hp tractor - We have a 4ft one and thats plenty big enough, we decided after looking at lots of old ones to buy new. Its just too much hassle sharpening blades and fixing broken ones - I just wanted to get on and get done. We had saved the money on the tractor so spent it on the implements.

We got the fertiliser/seed spreader, topper and roller from here - its worth asking for package deals, or end of lines as we paid way less than the website prices

We got a set of 5ft harrow out of Friday ads for £80.

TBH the roller gets minimal use as we are on chalk so dont get any deep mud but the topper, fertiliser and harrows are used a lot.

The 4ft Topper takes about 5 mins to do a 1 acre paddock, from badly overgrown to short.

Somebody come back to me on a topper that's suitable,
Obviously its expensive, since all the cheap ones are absent.
But it is local, and sounds alright.

Reckon I'd like a post rammer/basher thing then my life WILL be complete.

(Given up looking for plough BTW)

guess a budget of 3-4 hundred for something shiny does that sound about right?

Hi have you looked in the Friday-ad? They sometimes have that type of thing. It also covers the whole country, it may be worth a try.

Linda was saying earlier on about a harrow they picked up for 80 quid from the classifieds, so like you say as well, its worth a look
only would you mind looking for me quickly right now,

as I'm in East Sussex with a trailer Tomorrow morning to collect the tractor,

                        Thanks......

Hi just had a look nothing under £595 but unsure what i am looking for! you never know you could always place an advert on there for free under the wanted section.

Here is a link for the Friday Ad its worth having a look from time to time, as it covers the whole of England.

Well, got it back OK although I suspect I've made no new friends in the process.
Those hilly/winding Sussex roads don't make for good towing, it was OK once i made the M25 again amd got back on the straight and level,
not that I got anywhere fast due to the traffic.

                            Anyway,
got the machine back to Northampton after lunch dropped it in field and returned the hire trailer (eency weency bent ramp)

I relented on the mower issue and have a new one being vanned' here tomorrow, well the auctions just take off in the last few hours & minutes,
was unable to find anything cheap and cheerful from the dealers, and theres a hell of a lot of scrap masquerading as sale items on E-bay,

the only other option was the dispersal sales, but they are a bit scarce locally, both fuel and trailer hire rental, to go on spec was looking less and less viable.

For now I need to spend a weekend slowly knocking down acres of high grass and weeds, over Winter I was possibly thinking of some repairs to this old tractor.

The mudguards were held on with rust and flapping all over the place on the way back, so they got pulled off first,
A company called Agriline from the mags' offer pattern parts art 130 quid
together with clocks and lights etc, all reasonably priced, so if I feel keen, I might just part-tart it up over winter

thanks very much for all your advice very useful

(Great aren't they BTW, any Man that fails to like pratting about on a tractor is likely a gayer IMHO)

Its not pretty, and I can't find either cupholder or provison for a bass bin,
but in terms of ####ing about in a field
                                I'd say 8/10

                                (more with spinners)
