  • Roof lights (take 2)

Well, after the discovery on my last surf that fixing the lights directly into the roof wasn't such a great plan, i fabbed up some brackets and fitted them to a light bar this time round.

By fabbed i mean cut some aluminium angle from B&Q to length to sit inside the lights existing brackets, drilled it so i could bolt the lights to one side and screwed the other side of the angle into the roof bar. I wanted to leave the centre of the bar free of wires, so as to be able to fit uprights to the bar and therefore still carry 4 kayaks on it, provided the 8 holes in the side of the bar hasn't reduced the strength of the bar drastically, i can't see it would have affected it that much, but time will tell and we'll see after a few loads have been carried on it.

Well, here it is what do you guys reckon?

By the time they're far enough forward to avoid screwing into the sunroof gubbins they're useless because you dazzle yourself with the glare off the screen and bonnet whenever you turn em on.

Been doing it slowly since last saturday, got the bar all wired up and lights fixed on to it during the week then ran all the wires inside the car yesterday, joined everything up this afternoon.

was a dodgy call, 6 pin connector and only using 4 of them, could've been in trouble
