Turbo from a Landcruiser 4.2???? Really??? Is that hard to fit to the 3.0?

                Just theorising, but...

Assuming a Landcruiser 4.2 produces ~25% more exhaust gasses than a Surf, then the impeller will be bigger on the turbo to suit.

Therefore the gasses from a smaller engine will not be sufficient to produce the pressure in the compressor that the larger engine would.

Therefore the performance gains will not be as big as people might think.

                However...

A Surf turbo exhaust side, mated to a LC compressor might produce a higher pressure - a hybrid if you like But then the engine management would bet a bit funked about it and put you into limp home.

So, Andy, if you were thinking... personally I wouldn't bother, unless you are going to remap the ECU, modify the new turbo etc etc.

No no no no no no no no no no no no - NO!

Just thought it was a bit odd - not for the reasons you mentioned, I don't have anywhere near the mechanical mental capacity to have got close to that but, wondered if he meant it was for a Landcruiser (Prado) in which case, it's the same one that all 3.0 Surfs have anyway.....but I like the way you think.....

The only other thing I want to do on my truck now is uprate the alternator at some stage in the next year or so....no turbo changes unless mine gets knackered...

                    What about two alternators?

One for each battery? (Assuming your splitting them)

                    Switchable incase of emergency?

Or is this getting a bit complex now...

I'm starting to get a headache.....

I've heard about using the aircon pump to power another or be another alternator, but I use my air con in this one - not sure how I'd get another one in there TBH...

Dont know about the techinalities (?) but i can vouch for it going like $hit off a shovel, he took me round the estate in it, mine felt like it was going backwards after that, apparantly it was a straight bolt on replacement but other than that i've no idea! wish it'd fit on my 2.4 tho

I too will vouch for it's 'sh*t of a shovel' performance - it's an eye opener for the chavs

But thats from two 2.4 owners, and Ians is weighed down by the Far East's LED production from 2007!

Lets face it guys, compared to a 2.4, a glacier has 'shit off a shovel' performance!
