  • New To The Forum-bit of advice needed as well

    Hey

First of all I would like to say what a great bunch of 4x4 enthusiasts you lot are, I finally decided to pluck up the courage to sign up and post, loving the site as I am into computers and am a forum admin on other sites + used to own a web design company xD (enough of the small talk)

    Right!

Believe it or not i am only 18, and i must admit i adore the surf, I am on about buying one come the end of the summer, i no people said i am mad which I am hehe. I am a true off road "freak" if I can use that word, but the one major floor in this plan is the insurance, I don’t even know if I could get insured at the age of 18 on one of these beauty’s, do any of you have any idea if I could get insured and if so how much roughly.

besides the matter my dad is also a 4x4 lover and sadly his got wrote off a couple of weeks ago by a idiot in a sports car, my dads car was a Nissan terrano which was greatly loved and is looking to be a write off, well see for your self’s (pic attached below) R.I.P

P.S. i will be donating soon xD

      Welcome 'home' buddy.

No idea what insurance costs will be at your tender age, but wont it be megabucks for anything?

Give the usual insurance co's a bell (Flux etc) and see what they say.

Actually, Rod Leach isn't much older than you. Rod, how much do you pay?

Welcome dude ( if I might be so familiar ) I'd agree with Kerrsurf, and tell your dad to get one too, and go halfs with the insurance, the cheap cost of the vehicle will cover the ins.

2.4 is no cheaper on fuel, in fact I have heard that they're actually less economical than the 3.0.

I doubt its cheaper on insurance either, though they are certainly slightly cheaper to buy.

same on tax, 3.0 will be better on fuel if anything, won't be much difference on your insurance.

assuming we're talking 3.0TD obviously and not the 3.0 v6 petrol which you'll have to tow a bowser full of fuel just to make sure you get back from the post office

My first years insurance on the surf was £850 at 20 with 2 years no claims , and 3 points for an SP30

Just sent off for a quote using Adrian flux insurers, whether or not they will entertain me i very much doubt it xD

Defiantly won’t be the 3ltr petrol, your having a giraffe aren’t you? Prices of petrol these days extortionate
