i'm off tonight to have a look at something cheap to run (around 60mpg), trouble is if i like it i'm going to have to buy it as the surf is just getting too expensive for my daily commute, as mrs b has her own motor looks like the the guzzler may have to go........

I'm assamed to say that I now run a little Escort cause the beast was just to thirsty for the daily running about.
But I've still got the Surf. I can't get rid of her, what else will tow my trailer over a rough field whilst full of dogs. I'll give her up when she no longer runs, I'm dead, or I've got a 3 litre (3 years time (ish)).Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Ive just done about 1200km's in my truck in the past 2 weeks tops, cost a bl**dy fortune in fuel. Im at 15mpg tops!
My biggest problem is, i love trucks! Big tyres, big lifts! I love american muscle cars with there monster V8's.
I'm into stupid cars basically! I dont look at a fiesta an think "wow, thats a nice looking car"
No car floats my boat ( 300C excluded of course! )
One thing i loved about the whole surf thing was doing the reading up an research into the lift stuff, it was awesome learning about it an other things as i went. My truck is losing its 'wow thats big' appeal painfully fast!
I almost want to get another totally different truck so i can read up an learn about it again!!
When will this stupid addiction end!

faced with a Toyota Yaris that would probably do many, many miles on just fumes or a Land Rover defender V8, rag top with a roll cage an a whole host of silly extras that did about 10 to the gallon i know what would get me excitied!!
The newer double cabs achieve about 35ish mpg which is a fair chunk more then our surfs, but i cant help but doubt some of the build quality of newer cars. Everything feels like it has a best before date. That teamed up with a monster depreciation.
Im not interested in the 'plate' of a car. Style is what attracts me to a car... then google tells me if its worth buying the damn thing!
I would go nuts for a dodge ram, but sometimes i cant help but look at the bad points... pi$$ poor on fuel, would be worse with any kind of hike up in tyre size. very long, very wide. just awkward would be the best way to describe it!
I even had a look at prices on an 'artic truck' style conversion on a newer hilux but then the thing is so damn wide you cant use a parking bay even in an open car park!!
