agree with gra its the fun factor thats why most of us keep surfs , try doing wales , rtts ,drumclog in a escort or fiesta , weekends of great fun and friendship ,
if you can go abroad for your vacation then come on here and bitch about the cost of your surf perhaps you have the wrong vehicle
if on the other hand you are truly having hard times then i sympathise if you have to sell to buy something more economical
Only Toyota can get you out of shite

The cost of living rising the way it is at the moment will affect almost everyone, myself included. I've had to cut down on the number of holidays I'll go on this year and I plastered the walls in the hall rather than pay a plasterer to do it. But I'm not about to whine about having to cut back and if you're honest; you couldn't care less about my holidays and plaster.

Likewise, if you can't afford to do whatever it is you're doing and have to stop doing it, I honestly don't care!

As Graham said, if mundane is your bag or all you can afford, go for it. There's nothing wrong with mundane, most folk are happy to be it.

But please... Stop moaning about it, it's doing my head in...

I have also been feeling the pinch of the cost of fuel..... did i say pinch i meant to say I have been feeling the excruciating pain of being f**ked up the ar*e by the increase in fuel costs.

        I have been thinking ...
opt 1 buy a V8 land cruiser and convert it to LPG
opt 2 keep my 3ltr surf and buy a Smart Car or Toyota Yaris

I like opt 2 but the question is how much will the road tax on the 3ltr Surf be going up to ?

I need a 4x4 on average about twice a week for both my addiction to the Surf and also for work etc. But i also drive approx 200 - 300 miles a week, much less than I was before x mas.

Am i the only one who hates having to think twice before starting the engine as to whether i could walk, bike or not go to where i am going?

What the guys got up to on the WWR trip must have been awesome, an look at the money involved in it! I dont doubt it cost a few quid in fuel but you try an have the same level of enjoyment from a holiday that cost that!

Hell, This place is probably to blame for a lot of peoples love of these trucks, The first time i registered i didn't have the "remember me" clicked so i could never see any pics.. i couldn't be bothered with this place. it wasnt untill i got my 2nd truck that i spotted it. As it was i spent a fortune on crap tyres an no name shocks on my 1st truck. Ive saved money, ive had great (an crap) ideas on what to do to my truck!

Its just a tough choice. If my Surf blew up right now i would be gutted!! I was a damn mess at a CV boot FFS! But i know i would move on, not to bland car A or B but to something that i would fall in love with again.

I dont envy anyone having to make the choice between any car/truck they love and something that is more of a 'needs must'

Its a sh!t thing to have to deal with, it really is.
          for some like me
its my only option is a big car i can get in and out of and they are all bigger engines then i allready have
so dont knock it if you have a choise between a small car or big
at least you have the choise
          some dont have a choise
but have to carry on feeding there surf

hey rod, long time no hear dude !
this quote is so true !!

i cant understand why the "gotta get a car so must sell the surf" attitude comes from.why admit defeat before you have tried a compromise.

the thought of tonyn in a little peugot makes me pmsl but...........

it means he gets to keep the others on the road by saving a few shekels.
i know i am so lucky as i get nearly all my fuel paid for,and as the surf is a...ahem....company vehicle, all its operating costs are met,so i do appreciate tyring to run one on a budget may be hard, but like before, why admit defeat before you try a compromise ?

Went to Fuengerola at the weekend, it was mince! Apart from Sunday. Then it's of to Malta in the summer then Tenerife in autumn and again in December. Thanks for asking.

Didn't use a trowel for the plaster, I used a float.

                          use the search facility dude.

and bear in mind that 16-20 mpg does tend to dent the off set in lpg cost (which will rise dramatically soon)
