Thats it, this country/govnmt/oil companys offially blows!!!!

We had to go out and buy something a little more affordable to run, so now in an effort to keep all our trucks and still stay solvent we are now the proud owners of a friggin' 94' Peugeot 106 for running around town and taking Linda to the station every day duties.



This is what its all about, embaressment aside....

1.4 Diesel making about 55bhp, wa-######-hoo!!!!

76.3mpg at a steady 56mph and 50mpg around town. That works out to over 750 miles between fuelling stops. ( and it came with a full tank!)

All that aside, I'm still pi$$ed that its come to this, and feel down that we had to cave in and admit defeat, but thats life these days it seems.

To counter this, I'm definatly start the Chevy V8 swap in my 1st gen ASAP, to try and save face!!!!

Don't feel bad Tony, I've just had to do the same, and put a deposit on a pug 306, pick it up on saturday, bit of a shed, but as you say 50 MPG got to keep the surf running somehow.

I have found another way to save on fuel..
I drove up to the end of our lane this morning, and could get no further! the bank holiday traffic was stationary as far as I could see in both directions! Every one was cross, beeping and trying to persuade their satnav that taking a short cut passed my house would be a great idea....So I came home again.
Tried it again this afternoon, and still couldn't get out...
There we go - saved on fuel, saved on food, saved going to Halfords for motorbike and lawnmower fixing stuff, jobs a good one.
Got no food in the house now, so I hope they have all gone by tomorrow..

I would drive a pink smart car to work every day, if I had a Chevy V8 1st gen solid front axle to play in at the weekends.

Its not that bad tbh. We get to keep the 3 surfs, 1 4runner, 1 pickup and the new project surf.

The pug will actually get into the multistory in town on the odd occasion we go there, which none of the others will due to big lifts and tyres.

For a little car its actually relatively pokey, and a years insurance was just over £100!! It has no rust, engine is great, and its got a great kenwood stereo. Also poor old Gemma can easily get in and out without being lifted.

OK - I'm not fooling you am I ? But it will serve its purpose.

I'm gonna sort out my pushbike for work now the weather's better, and use Vicki's Polo for longer trips.

Mind you, dont have any front shocks at the mo. Oddly enough though, no ARB, big tyres, 5" of lift and no front shocks to speak of, and driving home from Wales yesterday, I STILL didn't feel I was about to tip over on every bend.
