    Just to expand a bit. Crude is crude, the only differences are the sweetness and the gas ratios. The refining proceses are slightly different, but petrol and diesel are still refined whether sweet or sour crude is the feedstock.

          Andy please clear up for me am I correct in saying in a previous post that diesel is not classed as a heavy oil

                  i dont think it was you that caused the confusion i said diesel was classed as a heavy oil, as i was going on what hmrc class it as and petrol is classed as light oil too according to them.

                    A right... As far as road fuels go, diesel is heavier than petrol; but in reality neither are particularly heavy. All depends on what they compare it with I suppose.
