it's all in (good*) humour - in a vain attempt to avoid the banter feel free to post in the technical sections - we'll still take the ####, but we'll get told off for it

To quote one of our most famous writers (he must be that famous i can't remember who it was)-

"A salon by any other name is still a salon"

*i know, good is debatable, but the intention is there, as is the humour (or indeed lack thereof)

It's not directed at you, it flairs up about once a week mostly between the hairdressers and the tractor drivers, with the occasional interjection from the break down team.

I think you want something like this.

Hmmm, this is something I haven't considered, and I'm just about to plumb in a big cooler for my run through france next year.

Maybe I'll look at something after the summer, but it should be pretty straightforward and is a nice excuse for another switch on the dashboard.

              Welcome by the way!

You should be able to able to get cheaper ones than the one Sancho linked to. Mocal do a totally mechanical type. Just looks like a 4 way valve. Think they were around thirty quid or so the last time I checked.

no need for a switch. i believe they work like the thermostat for your radiator only allowing the ATF to flow back to the box instead of to the cooler until its up to temp.

You can't over cool a auto box don't waste your time or money putting on something you don't need.

Since when? At least on the V6s and, I presume, across all surfs, it won't even change up to overdrive until it's warmed up. That's a function of the gearbox ECU to protect the box until it's up to operating temperature.

Yes but that's monitored by engine temp not gearbox the only temp sensor on the box warns of fluid overheating .
