2. The French and the Germans have a much harder time of it than we do
3. Where are these schools where they don't talk about Winston Churchill?
4. It's not about offending races. Faiths are not related to race (the whole concept of race was proven to be false in 1948 by the way). It is not considered appropriate to force muslim children to attend christian assemblies and that is what they opt out of. It is similarly not appropriate to force christian children to attend muslim assemblies in areas where islam is the predominant faith.
5. You are exercising your right to free speech now. If you wish to shout your pride from the roof tops, I suggest you climb on to a roof and shout your pride. Nobody is stopping you.
6. You have your country. If you mean Scotland, it's largely devolved from the UK and voting for the SNP will help. If you mean Britain, it's outside. Go out there and enjoy it.
7. Please do not read the Daily Mail. It's not real, it's created to make money out of paranoid people. That's all it does.
As Yoshie suggests though, I am going to leave the politics alone and hopefully will never revisit it. It distresses me that so many people have such a horribly distorted view of the world and such massive stores of resentment.

Not nit picking or crap mate. Just a discussion, that's all. No one has thrown any insults or resorted to name calling.
People post topics, people reply. Some topics are volitile, sometimes a raw nerve is touched and things are said that perhaps shouldn't be. I don't think this thread has evolved into one of those situations, it's just people voicing their opinions.
On the whole this thread shows that folk don't care where you're from as long as your a decent person.

My thoughts exactly. I don't care who you are or where you're from. I'll take you as I find you, and I'd appreciate you doing the same for me.
I'm proud of my country, both England, Great Britain, and the United Kingdom, and I would like to be able to express that pride without being made to feel guilty by certain sectors of society.
