  • Noisy heating/cooling fan

Ok, very annoying high pitched whining sound when I switch on my heating/cooling fan.

    Any ideas?

I hate 'funny' noises in my car....

      It'll be a noisey fan I reckon..........

Probably need to come out and be overhauled or replaced, or try turning the speed up, sometimes fans only get noisey at certain rpm.

It does it at all speeds... Would it be expensive to get replaced?

You'd best look for one from a breaker, unless you can get new bearings from Toyota, which in all honesty wouldn't surprise me, as these trucks were built old skool, ie to be repaired and maintained.

If the bearings arn't available through Toyota, then I'm sure if you can get the unit out, someone here will know which bearings will fit it, and may even know someone who can do it for you.

Check the parts/breakers for sale section, see if somebody's got one.

Often just a leaf or suchlike which has been drawn through and got stuck in the fan.

Put your mouth against the passenger side air vent and shout "Hello? Is there anything stuck in there?"

you can block the other vents up with ducked tape
and blow it out that way if it dont work it dont work

Thats what I thought. You dont need any equipment. If you get a reply, you know what the problem is. What have you got to lose?

"Yes, I'm a leaf, been stuck in here since october, get me out please"
                              or
"Yes, I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!"
                              or
"Why are you shouting into my air vents you strange person?"
