My batteries on the truck seem to run down real quick lately. Cant even leave stereo on for more than an hour and the battery is gone. Do i take it that they both need renewing and y do i have 2 batteries anyway.

You have two batteries because Mr Toyota wanted to fit two small ones instead of one big one. They are linked together to give more amperage for starting.

Only one of the batteries may be sh***ed, (usuall) but because they are linked, the duff one drains the good one. You need to disconnect them both and test them individually.

Toyota dealers sell batteries for a decent price, often cheaper than places such as Halfords.

These are the Toyota part numbers ......

Why are they different part numbers???

Be precise, rather than spouting misleading information. If both are borderline or below par, replacing just one will have that effect you mention. If one is in perfectly good condition, whilst the other is not, then replacing just the problematic one would be fine.

If both are of the same age, however, then replacing them as a pair is the advisable option.

                        Gawd.......

I've posted this about 3 times in the last 2 weeks!!! Does no one listen?

ALL EFI 2.4 and 3.0 2nd GEN SURFS HAVE 2 BATTERIES, WINTER PACK OR NOT!!! IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEC THEY ARE.

The only trucks that have single batteries are non-EFI 2.4's and 3rd Gens, then the 'Cold Weather' versions do have 2 batteries.

                        Rant over....

'cos the terminals . They're not in the centre of the battery like most cars, they're on one side of the battery.
