  • Oh $hit!!!!!

Some silly barsteward in a brand new Interlink express giant vw van decided to pull out on me this morning and break my truck

Any way it goes something like this,
I was on my way back to work travelling on a main road, listening to the radio minding me own, and some dopey little and i mean little! decided to not bother stopping at the end of the side road he was pulling out of. Dropped the anchors and screamed to a halt inside his cab. It was a right mess. I thought i had totalled me truck but most of the damage was to his van. He jumped out ranting about me speeding and not looking where i was going. So i turned to a couple on the pavement and politely asked "did you see the accident" to which they both replied "yes" so i asked "who do you think was at fault" they both pointed to little man!

Not satisfied with this he then turned to three people, 2 men and 1 woman and asked the exact same question i had, "did you see the accident"? to which the woman replied "yes, now get back in your van and move it over to the side of the road".

Well i could have collapsed laughing, All three were plain clothes police officers and saw the whole thing from start to finish. They told him in no uncertain terms, that he was at fault and they made a log on the radio as to what had happened and i now have five witnesses, three of which should be pretty reliable when it comes to statement time. They did all the work for me and gave me a log (ref)number for my insurance company.

The truck's a mess, his vans a worse mess and some clouds really do have a silver line!!

One question, has anyone here had a smash in a surf and had it repaired by their ins company?, i don't want it written off cos i love it, but i don't know the availability of panels, lights etc.

Wings you can get from roughtrax maybe same for bonnet if in a bad way.

3rd gen 's are rare to see in scrap yards but they do come up, there is a small possibility that they will write it off as getting parts from toyota could be pretty pricey.
Worse case you can try buying it back off insurance company and repairing it yourself

Your lucky you had witnesses including old bill otherwise it would be hit for hit

It looks like you hit a trolley in tescos. If it all drives OK and the slam panel's straight you will have no worries fixing that up.

Looks like the bar on the front saved you a few bob.

Fortunately all the damage is front end only so no wings or bonnet required. It's bumper front flitch lights (broke inside and brackets) A bar, no plate etc and a lot of pulling required under the bonnet.

There's about 3" between the rad and front flitch so no damage there. The bar and bumper took most of the impact.
