this is the actual way it reads in th vosa guide and reason for rejection
"a silencer in such a condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a silencer in average condition"

That`s interesting info. Mines due for MoT next week and last year they did`nt bother to test anything to do with the exhaust. Reasons were my veg oil fuel and big-bore which they said was illegal but it still passed? Any comment as I`m going to the same place but with biodiesel.
            thanks,

if it passes the smoke test the fuel in it wont be a problem, they should just test it like any normal diesel engine, cant comment on exhaust's noise level as i havent heard it lol

also i know that the law states about the changing of a backbox to increase noise output is not allowed, i shall get the exact wording of this as you can get fined for a loud exhaust....
i know the boyracers local to me have been given a penalty for section five which is a funny one as it's usually used for abusive people swearing etc....

there's putting a better exhaust on a tuned car that is a nice sound and then fitting a sewer pipe to a crap 1ltr fiesta and sounds like a tractor is driving past!!

Apparantly it's like puttin an asbo on your car and they only need one complaint / statement and they can seize your car then and there. Costs over £150 to get it back.

bibs that's not quite right! that will be a section 59 which is two complaints and seen by police/ police worker and it needs to be more than noisey, ie driving like a spoon in town!!

section 5 of the public order act is to "cause harassment, alarm or distress"...

section 59 of the police reforms act is to do with the seizure of vehicles which are "used in a manner causing alarm, annoyance or distress"

i guess they could use both, depending if they wanted to give you a ticking off, arrest you or have the car off you.
