Actually, it is pretty warm over here. A nice 4 degrees C in Calgary Alberta Canada. The reason that I sought to remove the speed bell was that I plan on driving the 8 hours it takes for me to get home for Christmas. 8 hours with a bell on is very annoying. (Have done it once). And going 105 on a highway with a speed limit of 110 is just embarrassing. Now, my biggest problem is how much gas this thing will eat.

With your gas prices, I wouldn't worry to much!

No bell but flashing blue light

I haven't noticed any bell, but I have seen a flashing blue light in the region of my rear view mirror when going over 100!

mine will come close but i have to thrash the bollox off of it, sits at anything from 60-80 nicely, if i want more than that i'm in ragging it mode, and have to put the heavy boots on.

why the hell do you want to thrash your surf? i enjoy life in the slow lane, plodding on me tractor between 60-70mph, if you want speed buy a car? all this talk of ''yeah mine can easly do three figures'' good luck to ya, wouldnt want a blow out in your surf at dem speeds, thats death talking.

And you've never put your foot down coz your late for something? I never said that i do it regularly, just that it's capable. I agree with you, but i'm not mr. $$$$$$ perfect and never gone above 70. Unfortunately i drive for 55+ hours a week minimum, only about 15 of which are in the surf, and on occasion frustration sets in and i put my foot down to get somewhere. As for this statement all this talk of ''yeah mine can easly do three figures'' what a load of $$$$, i don't even think my post implied that the surf did three figures easily. I actually thought i said something very similar to "plodding on me tractor between 60-70mph" when i said sit's nicely at 60-80, but there you go, maybe my english is different to yours. And when i said "mine will come close but i have to thrash the bollox off of it" did that not imply that it doesn't actually make it to a ton anyway? Read the feckin posts before you get all high and mighty over something. It $$$$es me off when someone slates my driving when quite clearly they know feck all about it. Have you ever seen my driving? and have you even read what i posted about it? As for buying a car the reason i drive the surf is because it does what i need it to do, my escort didn't. One of the reasons i bought the surf in the first place was to slow me down. So i sacrificed the economy, 40+mpg, speed, 140+mph, comfort, low road-noise and general refinement of a good 6 year old car for the ability of the surf, as a load lugging, trailer tugging, off-road vehicle still with a few more perks than a landrover and i'm glad i did, but my driving didn't change and adapt to it overnight. Final point is that there are many shiney's on here, i have nothing against them at all, but they still drive vehicles capable of going off-road. I drive a beaten up, scratched 2.4 that is capable of a little shy of 100mph, it's also got an accelarator pedal to control it. Surf's don't automatically steer through the byways when you're driving round, you have to choose to go down them, by the very same token my surf does not automatically accelerate to the speeds it is capable of, so i have to make the choice do i drive how i normally drive ie) within the speed limit, leaving good stopping distances, driving courteously and with a good awareness of what's going on around me for several hundred yards, or do i drive flat out, killing my engine and risking not only my own life but that of anyone else around me?? I am only too aware of the consequences of dangerous and reckless driving, but on occasion i have made the wrong choices and i hope i have learn't from them.

OK, rant over. -If i have offended i am truly sorry, just explaining where i'm coming from.
