i have just been told by my doctor that i have a slipped disc in my back i have not felt pain like this before i would not wish it on my enermies the only good thing is the morphine the doctor has given me to take so when i come down off that is when the pain kicks back in so its no driving because of the back and the morphine it is always the way after putting the fuel pump on so that there is no more fuel leaks i will have to wait for a few weeks so i can really try the truck out.
    cheers shaun

I feel for ya man. NOT NICE! My mum had one, and has suffered half her life. Though she had to have 3 of her vertebrae bolted together, but I think this is the last resort though and not that recommended anymore. Just take it easy and try to enjoy the 'rest'. Do you have a little bell by your bed?

Once 'better' really try to strengthen your back muscles (but gently!!), you cannot afford to lazy with such a thing.

      Get well soon though!

I know that pain mate, had a slip disc several times several years ago, just like someone sticking a knive in ya back and twisting it, problem is it's left weak afterwards, so take it easy even after it's got better, it even went when i sneazed once, hope ya better soon,

How do you know its slipped? Only sure way to tell is an MRI scan. Its worth going to see an Osteopath, not a chiropractor cos they will rip you off. Quite often a slipped disk is missdiagnosed by the gp and it is in fact a bone displacment that is touching one on the nerves, very simple to correct. Let me know if you want to find one and i will lokk in the register for you

Voltaren Diclofenac pills help too (what my doctor prescribed). Makes you a bit sleepy, but it takes the swelling down, letting the cartilage heal faster.

If I remember correctly (which isn't guaranteed ), the vertebrae of the spine are seperated by cushions of a collagen-based squishy stuff (the 'disc'). The discs are held in place by rims of cartilage and some other fibrous stuff -- which can tear, swell or rupture causing a slipped disc.

That's of the top of my head, and it's been 5 years since I had my slipped disc. So if I'm wrong, I apologise.

Thats about how it was explained to me at the hospital, on that occaision (the only time i had to go to hospital with it) the doctor told me it went into muscle spasym, christ that was the worst one ever, i was streached out for nearly three weeks then,
